Little Web App

A Tiny Stretching App I Made for Myself

A simple phone-friendly stretching player built around public Movement by David videos.

I made a little stretching app for myself: baconandgames.com/utils/stretching/.

The short version is that I sit at a desk all day and wanted fewer excuses to skip mobility work. I had bought a stretching program from Movement by David, a YouTuber I follow, and I wanted something easier than digging through his PDFs whenever I had a few minutes to stretch. You might say I'm obsessed with simplifying the world around me. Well, you might not... but I will.

The app is intentionally phone-first: pick an area, follow the video, tap forward when you are ready for the next stretch. The goal was never to make this a public app. I built it because I wanted to be able to take out my phone, pick one of the four areas I wanted to work, and get moving. Each section starts with a warmup, then moves through a shuffled list of stretches with the sets, reps, or hold time shown underneath the video.

Eventually I sent it to a few friends who also have bad backs and tight hamstrings. I doubt anyone is going to make this a daily destination, and that is completely fine. It is mostly here because it was a fun one-day project that I still use regularly.

Anyway, it's not life-changing for me or such an impressive thing that I thought people depserately needed to read about it... but it's still fun to catalog. Pun... indended? I'll let you work that out for yourself.

Ok, I'm done.
